WordPress plugin to display Twitter status via Ping.fm

I have just finished writing my first WordPress plugin – a widget to display a status update via Ping.fm:

Ping.fm is a simple service that makes updating your social networks a snap. You can use AIM, GTalk, iGoogle, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, WAP, iPhone/iPod Touch, SMS or E-mail to let Ping.fm relay your message to a multitude of social networking sites. This plugin lets you use Ping.fm to add your status to your WordPress Blog’s sidebar via Ping.fm’s “Custom URL” integration.

== Installation ==

* Extract archive
* Upload entire ‘pingfm_status’ directory to ‘wordpress/wp-content/plugins’
— do not remove files from directory, upload the directory with all files in it
* At http://ping.fm create a Custom URL to update the following address:

http://url_to_your_wordpress_installation/wp-content/plugins/pingfm_status/pingfm_post.php

* Enable the plugin in your WordPress admin section
* Add pingfm widget to your sidebar, set the Title

== Notes ==

If you notice that the timezone is incorrect on the timestamps that appear in your updates,
you can change it in ‘/wp-content/plugins/pingfm_status/pingfm_post.php’. I have included
some notes in that file.

Here is a link to the plugin in the WordPress Plugin Directory.

Plug in for quickcam and messenger, i cant use my camera. :s

I downloaded the plugin via the wordpress plugin install module. Here your plugin only works when I change the underscore to dashes. So it should say ‘pingfm-status/pingfm-post.php’ instead of ‘pingfm_status/pingfm_post.php’
Thought you should know.

Hi,

Ping.fm custom URL is set. Time zone is adjusted. Widget is set too on one of my sidebars. When I update the custom URL, I get a nice date and time stamp in the widget… Yet, if I post something from Ping.fm, my widget display remained unchanged. Nothing is updated. The post from Ping.fm does not show and the original date and time stamp of the custom URL update is still there… Any ideas, please?

Thanks

oh, and yes the plugin has been activated through the WordPress admin interface…

I just installed ping.fm’s PingPressFM plugin in a self hosted wordpress site. API key, PHP version and CURL module have been verified.

I am stuck at setting the “trigger”. Under the “Current Trigger”, clicking the drop down arrow gives me two choices:

“(Off) undefined (@undefined)”
“—Create New Trigger”

I chose “—Create New Trigger” and checked “Trigger is active” box, accepted the remaining defaults, and clicked “Create Trigger”, and then saved it by clicking “Update Options” button.

Now I get an error that says, “None of your triggers are active!” …

Can any one help me here … please … I tried emailing the developer, but no reply so far.

Please help. Thank you.

O.K. I agree with you!THANKS! You guys do a great blog, and have some great contents. Keep up the good work.

Mine works great except for the text being cut off. It might be more of a problem with the theme I am using, but I can’t find anywhere in the code that I can change the length of the lines. Maybe I am missing something.

was facing similar problems of the status msg not being shown, but then i changed the attribute of the text file to 777.. also tried it on the other files and it worked :)

i always update my Twitter and i love to twitter my daily activities to my friends and loved ones. i also maintain a personal blog for entries which requires more detail.

phenominal plugin. cheers mate. its working great.

Hey Sam, love the plug in.

But one note- you URL that you describe for connecting is wrong.

You use “_” but the url is really “-”
Both in folder name, and php file.

It works great for me. thnx mate. But is it gona work on the new twitter design?
